Benjamin Evans
– Inclusive Design Lead
BIO & SUMMARY
Benjamin Evans leads design for Airbnb's anti-discrimination team, whose mission is to reduce discrimination and build belonging. Their work spans teams across the organization including design, research, legal, product, data science, engineering, customer experience, and policy. Through product features and the customer journey for both hosts and guests, Benjamin and his team are constantly looking for ways to quantify, design for, and measure the feeling that grounds Airbnb’s mission: belonging.
Airbnb’s mission is to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere by building an end-to-end travel platform and global community of travelers, hosts, and experiences. Expected to IPO soon, Airbnb recently announced that their host and guest community generated over $100 billion in estimated direct economic impact across 30 countries in 2018. The company has also vowed to tackle the thorny issue of discrimination directly. Many underrepresented groups still experience bias in their travel experiences, and this gap represents both a revenue opportunity and a way to get closer to Airbnb’s mission: belonging anywhere. Benjamin and his team focus on how to make traveling with Airbnb more accessible and inclusive for all.
