BIO & SUMMARY
Jen Long is a former Product Design Manager at Slack, where she led the Enterprise Design Team. Her team was made up of designers from predominantly consumer backgrounds who were working to redefine the enterprise software experience for their Fortune 500 customers.
Slack is a collaboration hub where teams work together to get things done. But they’re more than just a place to build culture, share amongst teams, and send emojis. The company is in the midst of a profound shift in how they think about and present their business: a shift towards Enterprise. Slack has the goal of becoming enterprise grade software where the world’s largest companies go to work and the place where that work happens. And though they’ve made progress towards this goal—many of Slack’s customers have thousands of employees using the tool—retention rates among enterprise users were lower than the business wanted. So Jen and her team set out to think about how Slack could scale to become the best enterprise collaboration tool out there.
In this talk, learn how Jen and her team solved for onboarding challenges with key Fortune 500 customers that have thousands of employees on Slack. She’ll share the importance of getting to know your customers, working cross-functionally with Sales, and knowing your value-annual recurring revenue-as a designer.
