How Pinterest expanded support for small businesses

Lindsay Mindler

– Head of Core Design

BIO & SUMMARY

Lindsay Mindler is Head of Core Design at Pinterest, where her team recently redesigned the onboarding experience for businesses. Core to her work is the knowledge that behind every pin on Pinterest lies a brand, retailer, or content creator. Her goal is to support every individual or business putting content onto the platform, as well as those who are consuming it.

Pinterest served over 300 million monthly active users in 2020, many of whom used Pinterest to research—and make—purchases. So it’s no surprise that businesses use Pinterest, too, to share content, drive sales, and build community. Pinterest serves both consumers, whom they call ‘Pinners,’ and businesses alike. Lindsay is constantly working to understand how the two are linked and how to best design the product for both groups.

In this talk, Lindsay explains how she and her team at Pinterest took a consumer problem, understood it from a business perspective, and then solved the problem for both consumers and businesses. You’ll learn how to use design and a multi-step process to identify problems for multiple audiences, set a vision, execute, and achieve business impacts through design.
